Oh dear. Please, PLEASE tell me you are not accepting profits for this? I feel like the biggest dunce in the universe right now. I’ve never paid you, but I have read your blog forEVER. And I actually, really believed that you might actually be telling the truth. If there is a way that you could get a spirit to SELL himself to random people over the internet… for counsul and such… then that may just be a spirit that I care not to know.
Your story makes sense to me. It makes much more sense than any other “spiritual” story I’ve heard. I came back here today after months and months of absence, ready to learn about what Meridjet and you have thought and done recently, and I come back to learn that you are actually taking PAYMENTS for this.
Have you just been waiting until you got a big enough following to scam people? Oh, it breaks my heart, honey. Not just for the money, but for the people (including me) whom you’ve managed to convince.
This is truly not meant to be insulting, or mean. If you are scamming, well, then… I don’t need to say anthing. You know what you are doing, and you don’t care. It makes money, right?
If you’re not scamming: then you do realize how this makes you look…? You cannot charge for a spiritual offering… dear goddess… it’s just ridiculous. I understand needing $ to run the site. Absolutely. I’d be more than willing to donate to the running of the site. But charging for things? Can you say “just call me for 99 cents a minute to get your psychic reading”? Really?

I want to add, though, that for someone who feels so strongly about this, I don’t believe you’ve ever commented or otherwise contacted me in any way, including when I’ve asked for donations. This blog is only 3 years old, and you’re not a registered user. Prior to this, I blogged on LiveJournal. If we knew each other, you haven’t indicated how, and I don’t recognize your name.
So to feel so strongly yet never utter a peep until one thing offends you, then to make a sweeping judgment without attempting to understand the process that I underwent to get to this point/place… that seems mighty one-sided. If you appreciated this blog so much, you might have been at least supportive enough to say hello after being here “forEVER.” Do you think that those of us who’ve struggled and want to help people so they don’t have to struggle the same way — do you think we can get by on no feedback, no contact, and no idea who is reading us? While I do value your opinion as a reader or ex-reader, I value all the more the opinions of those who’ve made an effort to walk on this journey with me, rather than remain spectators. It’s been a real struggle for me, and you don’t seem to understand that. That’s what my email addresses, if you’re interested… how I came to be here.

Hello Tristian, and thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment. I hope you will allow me time to respond, and will consider my response carefully.
It has not been easy for me to reach the stage of charging for my services, and I’d like to share that with you. In the beginning, when Meridjet and I began to attract attention (around 2003), I counseled people for hours on end, every night, for several years. I was fine with this, except that it wasn’t fine for me. I had serious boundaries issues and my response to a new friend was to be extremely accommodating, then after months of them leaning on me and me asking for nothing, I’d need someone to lean on and they’d vanish. I would then feel stung, and begin to set boundaries, very suddenly and harshly. This disillusioned them (or, if I was being used, they just left for greener pastures), and they pulled back. Clearly, this was not working.
I first toyed with the idea of charging a few years ago, and it felt dirty and wrong. But as I worked with Meridjet and went through 2.5 years of intensive cognitive/behavioral therapy, I realized that this work is my true calling, it is where my heart sings, and it is what I am meant to do. Am I also meant to do it without a source of income? All of my friends eventually pulled back, and during that period I built the independent blog on spiritcompanion.com. I searched for what to do to make a living while focusing on my work. Living on disability forever isn’t an option. And donations of $20 every couple of years aren’t enough, no offense. But that’s about what I pulled in.
First I tried paid posts. I hated it. It felt awful. I quit those, and tried various types of ads. Same thing — the only ads on the site now are Google Adwords, and I’m seriously considering removing those. There’s been a donation link up for 2 years, and see above as to how that worked out. I’ve even begged, when I was down to no cat food and eating potatoes. Not to whine at all, I’m just saying. It’s not a long-term solution and it doesn’t help me help people. About this time, an acquaintance “pawned off” on me someone who was bugging the crap out of her about a particular spirit, and when the newcomer came to me, I set a price immediately so that I wasn’t inundated the way the other woman had been. It grew from there, until I realized what I was supposed to do. Then I researched.
On the standard psychic sites like Keen.com, spirit mediums are getting, on the “reasonable” end, $6 a minute. It’s revolting. What I am trying to do is charge a reasonable rate for a specialized service that has infinitely more integrity than the standard competition. I’ll be adding other practitioners in a couple of months, hand-picked people who are extremely honest and specialized, old friends I trust implicitly. It’s been a very hard struggle for me to find this place, and now that I have, I am at peace. I know I am doing the right thing.
I’m sorry that my charging people automatically means I am a fraud, in your opinion. I have only ever tried to be genuine, and I intend to make that my standard as I move forward. I appreciate your perspective, but even those of us who feel called to be spiritual practitioners have to eat. I do still blog without charging, after all, and I have two free newsletters. Perhaps what upset you is the “marketing speak.” I’m still learning how to balance the sale with the groundedness that is another standard of mine — if you’d like to advise what I may have written that tastes bad to you, I’d be happy to know it.
The relationship, and everything I stand for, is real. I’m not trying to rip people off and I still do plenty of counseling for free. But if I am to reach more people and be the help I know I can be, I have to think realistically. I’m doing the best I can.

First and foremost, I apologize sincerely for my harsh judgement and reaction. I was caught off guard, surprised, shocked, and I took it personally. I should not have done that, and I’m very sorry. Please forgive me.
I am a registered user, and I have posted comments. (?) It was quite a while ago that I posted my last comment though… maybe after a certain period of absence, I’m not registered anymore? Hmm. I can’t explain that one. Apparently I wasn’t around when you asked for donations. And you are absolutely right, I could donate and keep my mouth shut, right?
I thank you for actually taking the time to send me a thoughtful email, and I understand now. Again, I apologize for my rashness. I was very angry. I was angry that I allowed myself to believe in something that was then “proven to be untrue”. I put that in quotes because of course it hasn’t proven to be untrue, I was just shocked. And in my anger and shock, my judgements fell very short-sighted.
I am literally sick to my stomach as I write this, because I can’t believe I was so unkind. It’s very unlike me. I do hope you will forgive me, and not take my rash comments to heart.
I think the think that shocked me the most was the way things were phrased, I guess. Just the commercialism of it all, you know? Of course, now I understand that you’ve got to make a living somehow, and I imagine it was a very hard decision to make. But to come back here and all of a sudden see a price put on something so priceless was strange beyond belief to me.
Anyway, I’m sorry, again. I can’t say it enough because I feel so ashamed that I let myself be that unkind. As I read my first comment, I almost can’t believe that I wrote it. I must have been very, very upset.

I am in the process of redesigning the site — it won’t look different in style, but the front page won’t be the blog (it’ll still be linked from the front page) and I’ll be rearranging and adding content aside from the blog.
I understand being upset. I understand that it can be hard to not get personal when you’re angry. But it’s always better to get angry at a situation or action than at a whole person.

i’ve a decent amount of knowledge on this subject, and i have helped some people with this subject, i randomly came across your page just curious how genuine you are. i dont want to belittle you in anyway so i will not say anything but just curious on what you actually know about Jin and spirits, objects and energies associated i have helped people and it comes at a cost something not to mess with so i dont offer my help unless its really necessary or the person is a friend you offer help so easily so it makes me think you either are naturally gifted or something else all together
Well, paradigms and spirits differ; I have never worked with djinn (if that’s what your referring to) and most of the spirits I work with were/are human or closely associated, with some anthro-animal types, but it varies based on what the other person is working with. Meridjet was human (he’s my spirit companion), but not everyone’s spirit companions or guides are human. I’ve worked with darker spirits, and take appropriate precautions, but those precautions also tend to be a matter of paradigm or belief system.
I’m willing to answer questions, if you have them.
I just have to thank you for all the kind support! It greatly helped me and it is good to share all this! So for those who seek sincere advice, this is a place to come to.
