Colorectal Cancer Stuff, and Eww

It's all gonna be okay, right?

Don’t I pick the best subject lines? (Not so much.) I have Crohn’s Disease (since 1993) and a family history of colorectal cancer. I hadn’t seen a gastroenterologist since 2007; I used to see one doctor who retired, and I was passed over to his colleague, who turned out to be a jerk, so I Continue reading →

Have a Pickle. I Have Spares.

Oh, shit.

Two issues have arisen this past week to gain new levels of priority, impelled by that all too familiar feeling of “Processing.” One came to light incrementally — a long-standing issue that has become impossible to ignore. It’s in the way of my personal growth, now, and while I’m not sure how I’m going to Continue reading →

The Otherkin Problem

You know, I actually enjoyed the Twilight movies. But I have never felt like I might be a sparkly vampire. Whew!

For the first time in at least a year and probably more like 2, I’m Processing something heavy. I’ve attempted to ignore it and brush it under the rug, and previously when these feelings emerged I was able to do that. This time, not so much. Worse, it’s become apparent to me that there are Continue reading →

Getting Rid of Unwanted Spirits

There is always a way.

While many people I meet are interested in finding a spirit companion or enhancing their contact with a current one, I also occasionally meet someone who wants to get rid of a spirit. Sometimes, they have a haunting or feel they are under some sort of psychic attack from unwanted spirit visitors. Other times, it’s Continue reading →

All is Well

If I had leaves, they'd be gray.

Kara came home from the hospital today. She’s got like 7 prescriptions and a breathing treatment apparatus to get her through the next two weeks. Fun times! We also need to make an appointment for a sleep study, so I’ll be calling her doctor tomorrow to let them know. But she’s fine, is breathing much Continue reading →

My Daughter is in the Hospital

I lack witty commentary.

Just a quick update. We’re still sick here, though I’m definitely on the road to recovery. We went back to the ER today because my daughter kept getting sicker. We got there at 2:30 and she was finally admitted to the hospital (for her first overnight stay ever) around 9:30. Her oxygen level is low. Continue reading →

Sick

I feel like sucking my thumb.

I’m on my way to the emergency room, since we have no urgent care facility in this area. I think we might have pneumonia. Wish me luck.

Dead Cat

Earlier tonight my daughter and I went out for a bit; we got home around 9 pm, or four hours ago. Kara just went out to go for a walk and found a dead cat on our walk. Our driveway is about 50 yards long and it’s another 15 feet to the porch; the cat Continue reading →

Holy Jeepers Creepers, Batman!

Okay, I know I’m supposed to take this sort of shit for granted, but I really don’t. I’m not accustomed to big shows of physical manifestation, and they don’t occur that often. But I’m sitting here at my desk, right? And the front door is right in front of me and to my left, through Continue reading →

Review: A Frightful Experience is Nice This Time of Year

Upon taking Kara to the dentist, we were informed that she needs a root canal and that there was time to do it today. I expected the root canal, but not the expediency. She’s there now, though not particularly thrilled. I’ll go back in a couple of hours to pick her up. As I came Continue reading →

An Open Letter to All Concerned

I’m crossposting this to relevant places (and email) to reduce my catch-up time. I bet some of you are wondering where I disappeared to for so long. I live on Trinity Bay just east of Houston, about a mile from the mouth of the Houston Ship Channel. Hurricane Ike forced a mandatory evacuation of my Continue reading →

What Is WITH The Spiders?

Remember a few weeks ago when I found a very large “Southern House Spider” in my bedroom and killed it? Then a couple of days ago when I killed a big Wolf Spider with an egg sac on the porch? Well, that same night I came inside and killed another huge Southern House Spider in Continue reading →

Spiders Stay Outside

I intended to complete yesterday’s post, but other things got in the way and it’ll just have to wait. I am no longer quite focused in that direction. Meridjet has grown quiet over the last couple of days, though not completely silent. Last night I had dreams from which I awoke with a general understanding that there was activity worthy of note, but the details eluded me. It’s been that kind of month.

Back in Seattle, I noticed a tendency for any emotional eruption during the day to manifest that evening with a guest: a wolf spider would come into the house and run across my hardwood floors, leading me on a chase. Big suckers… The first one I saw in that house was on the fireplace wall when we

Cumming, GA Civil Rights March 1987

I haven’t slept much in the past few days. I wake up within a few hours of going to bed and am unable to go back to sleep. It hasn’t been so bad – I’ve been getting around six hours sleep a day – until this morning. This morning, I slept two and a half hours, woke up scratching my ankles from the new outbreak of fleas in my carpet (I’ve put down borax), and immediately starting worrying about my bank account. What kind of day is it when a $300 overdraft seems like a relief after you’ve spent time mentally adding things up and concluded it’ll probably go as high as $450? heh. (Turns out some of the stuff I thought was still pending has already posted. Thank

A New Phase

As often happens when a phase of my life comes to an end, I notice new things happening and new people entering my life from all directions. Even when the ending is painful, as it was recently, the new beginnings are promising and have the potential to shift my focus from the loss to the gain, which I think is healthy. In the last couple of days, things have really started to take off in new directions, and there have been indications as well of older, treasured alliances re-emerging. Meridjet is becoming more active in my circle of friends, and he’s bringing new folks around to meet me.

I haven’t had time yet to take a good look, and when I’m not busy I tend to be very tired
