Getting My Geek On

My cat taught me everything important I know about computers: They're warm and good to sleep on, and walking on the keyboard is a sure way to get the human's attention.

I’ve discovered the coolest thing, ever. It’s a gadget I got in the Google Apps marketplace (it’s free) called Insightly. It lets you organize projects in the most efficient cross-referencing system I’ve ever seen. Okay. You can add contacts, organizations, opportunities, projects, milestones, tasks, files, emails, teams and more, and link them to each other. Continue reading →

Halloween 2010

It's a haunted house. And it has ghosties in it. And monsters. And other scary things. Probably cockroaches.

You can see the entire album of Halloween photos here on my Facebook photos page. I spent three solid weeks getting things made and the decor set up, working from the time I got up until 1 or 2 in the morning every day. For that length of time, it should look better, but there Continue reading →

Belief and Metaphor

This is my second column in Rending the Veil, from January 2007. The first step to expanding your reality is to discard the tendency to exclude things from possibility. — Meridjet Paradigm Shifting and Reality Tunnels “‘Paradigm shift[ing]‘ has found uses. . . representing the notion of a major change in a certain thought-pattern — Continue reading →

Success on Your Own Terms

I’ve been emailing back and forth with Tonya Kay (see thumbnail), a new writer in Rending the Veil‘s increasingly impressive roster of contributors. She is a uniquely special individual, and I thought I’d share some of her enthusiasm with you, along with some links. I’m not really familiar with her body of work, but her Continue reading →

The Nature of the Egregore

I’ve decided to start republishing my articles here so I have a copy in my own blog. Also, so maybe they’ll actually be read. This article was originally published in Rending the Veil in December 2006. Michael Jackson was alive and well. There is no disrespect intended with use of his name here, either then Continue reading →

English Language FAIL

I’ve been combing the thesaurus and the dictionary for a synonym for “experience” (verb form). Did you know that, unless you have a very specific experience in mind (e.g. “feel” or “imagine” or “meet,” et al), there isn’t a good substitute? I need an adjective adverb form of “experience,” ending in -ly, and since there Continue reading →

My Blog is, Firstly, For Me

An article in the NYTimes online today attempts to determine why people blog when they should be doing things like “homework and swim practice, or perhaps even housework and parenting.” Their determination is that bloggers assume that just the act of starting a blog will provide an instant audience, followed by fortune and/or fame. While Continue reading →

The Midsummer issue of Rending the Veil is up. Or at least part of it is. I’ve been late due to illness. So…. I’m letting it trickle in. So far we have: Rufus Opus – “Conjuring Spirits the Old Fashioned Way” Sheta Kaey – “The Great Work of the Holy Guardian Angel” Keith Rowley – Continue reading →

Things Are Definitely Moving

You know how it goes when you’re trying to, for example, clean out a closet or garage or other area that’s very disorganized – you make a much bigger mess before you actually create anything like order from the chaos. Yeah. That’s my life for the last two months, and it’s accelerating, compounding, and taking Continue reading →
