Weirdly Similar Site

Yeah, they have. But I couldn't resist this old thumbnail.

This is weird. The site is called “Infinite Possibility” (at a domain I owned once, briefly), and talks about the “multiverse” as a new model for “envisioning and creating customer value using digital technology.” If that term takes off for that definition, it’s gonna be one hell of a confusion (as if it’s not already). Come Play with Me! It’s Free!

The clothes for the human avatars are FRIKKIN' AWESOME. If you join, I'll help you.

Just a quick post to plug one of my favorite websites — in fact it’s the only website I visit daily other than my blog and my email. I joined for the avatars and the clothes, but other people join for the pets. Subeta is not like Neopets — it’s twisted, darkly funny, and just Continue reading →

The Woes of Internet Marketing

“Internet Marketing” should really be a four-letter word. The, let’s face it, conquering of the Web by sound-bite sized content providers (Facebook, Twitter, et al) is enough to make a wordy person like me cringe and shudder at the prospect. I lack the profoundly well tuned time management skills to juggle umpteen social networking sites Continue reading →

World AIDS Day

Yesterday was World AIDS Day, and as I often do, I got distracted and missed the opportunity to post about it. However, I’m going to make up for it now. Today while sitting in a waiting room and leafing through the most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, I discovered a provocative ad. It was a Continue reading →

An Interesting Development – PeopleJam

This is not a paid post – I want to make that clear. But it is an opportunity, for you and for me. A couple of days ago, I received an email that was not strictly spam – it referred to posts on this blog and spoke to me personally, within the body of the Continue reading →

I Try to Keep an Open Mind

…but sometimes I just get pissed off. The link leads to a Christian woman’s blog who has a post on how “the ban on gay marriage slows the erosion of family.” What. the. bleeding. fuck. I continue to be amazed at how anyone anywhere can believe that what another person does affects the “sanctity” of Continue reading →

Website Review: Albernstein.com

A few items of intriguing synchronicity have occurred, which I think deserve bringing up to my favorite blog readers: you folks. 1) I am editing a new book for Immanion Press, and it’s on modern vampires and vampirism. I don’t want to give away anything in advance without checking with my boss and the author, so that will have to suffice. 2) I’ve recently corresponded with Michelle Belanger a few times, and am reading her Psychic Vampire Codex off and on. 3) Most recently, a LiveJournal ‘friend’ posted something I intend to include in this post on allegedly how to protect yourself from “emotional vampires.”

He included a link to the original source, and I’ve clicked over to check it out. Has anyone ever heard of

WTF is the Blog Awards Challenge?

There’s a new site and blogging contest called “Blog Awards Challenge,” based on the internet-age-old practice of supplying writing prompts, or challenges, for community-wide use. On LiveJournal, there are several communities that do this, particularly those given over to “muses.’ Muses are typically roleplay characters modeled after characters from books, movies, and television shows. The apparent goal of the Blog Awards Challenge is to award bloggers for the best writing, but as of yet there don’t appear to be any contest sponsors, professional judges, or anything aside from fellow bloggers running with a new idea. The url, the blog award challenge dot com, doesn’t match the title of the site, and a cursory look around shows that the site is run by two bloggers and allegedly aided by

Seeking Answers: Navel Gazing

Last night was a huge turning point. I can’t talk about as many details as I would like, at least not yet, because it is not all my story to tell. But these things did happen:

I was doing another card reading at the online Osho Zen Tarot generator, which is amazing and fantastic as well as being great for when I don’t want to get out an actual deck. This deck (and its generator) pulls no punches, and the card I pulled confused me because it was full of hope when I was not. So I went into the bedroom and got the actual deck, and invited my roommate to join me. She tossed out a spread and read the first two cards, which were so fucking intense
