This morning I found out that a good friend of mine lost his job and that the mother of another good friend died last night. These are both “real life” friends. In my observation, bad news comes in threes — one may come alone, but if there’s two, there’s going to be a third. So everyone I know is under strict orders to be careful this week.
I’m upset probably far more than I should be, but obviously neither of these events has a direct and serious impact on my life. I’ll be channeling Meridjet later (on the phone! yikes!) for my friend Mel (you might recognize the name Xanquela better) and visiting my other friend tonight as well. I’ll be attending a funeral this week and visitation, and cooking something nice for her so she will have reduced stress. Please keep both Mel and Tina in your prayers or positive thoughts.
And please be careful.

Yeah, they do come in threes, and that’s the truth. I work at a retirement community, and whenever there’s one death, two others will often follow close after. I hope the third one of this triad is a lesser “evil.” I know that misfortune isn’t necessarily an evil, but I’m at loss for a better word.
