I’ve had a guest from out of town here for the last week. She left this afternoon, and I’ve been trying to readjust to the idea of being home with just my daughter again. It’s rather like returning from vacation — routines seem strange. While Christina was here, we were busy every single day. We attended a birthday party, went out to eat for another birthday (my daughter’s), saw a movie, visited my brother’s house, worked in the garden, and cooked out three times. The last two or three nights she was here, we were so tired that we just laid around the house — her on the couch with her laptop, and me in my bed with the television. We did not get to make jewelry while she was here because we were just too run ragged.
I worked more in the garden today. For once I actually have one bed (the smallest of three) torn out, redug, and replanted with divided iris rhizomes. There is still room in the front, where I am adding lower-growing plants. I planted my holiday poinsettia there, among other things. I have many more irises yet to dig up, in the middle-sized bed of the three. The large one is mostly empty, since we had several hard freezes this past winter. I only need to move what I want to save and tear out the weeds so that my brother can take over and build a low maintenance rock & cactus garden. I also have about 15 containers with everything from irises to azaleas to lantana planted, some of which will find new homes in the small beds. I have probably 50 square feet worth of paperwhite daffodils to divide and move, if I can find room. There’s a lot of work to do and the weather has been truly gorgeous — mid-60s during the day and high-40s/low-50s at night. My kind of weather. And it’s a very relaxing job.
I haven’t been online hardly at all, just a scant few minutes here and there to check email, which amounts to very little. I haven’t worked on the book in over two weeks due to exterminators and company. I need to get some more ready to post here on this blog for the book series. I apologize for my extended absence, but real life does occasionally intrude.
I hope to see you all on the forum (see link at the very top of the page), where there’s been some activity from Sarenth in recent days. We’ll be able to work together more in the coming weeks and months. Christina probably won’t be back until mid fall, and my social life has recently slowed down considerably. Til next time . . . have a good one.
