I’ve got two more pieces of the Book Excerpt Article Series up, the second of which is considerably longer than the first. This is to make up for my silence this past week. I apologize for that. I’ve gone back to selling on eBay and have been so busy working on getting new items ready for sale that the time just flew by.
Since last we spoke, I’ve had the dubious pleasure of learning more about the lingering effects of allowing my blood sugar to crash. My legs have been killing me, especially that same night. My doctor and I have been trying to determine whether my mostly nocturnal leg pain is peripheral neuropathy, and I think the severe pain of that night and the greater-than-usual pain since is a pretty good confirmation of that diagnosis. It sucks, lemme tell you.
I’ve accomplished precious little in the past ten days other than working on stuff for eBay and marveling at the events going on in the world at large. The political and economic climate is dismaying. I’ve read about the conservative Tea Party movement, and astounded myself by agreeing with many of the viewpoints of those calling themselves “patriots” who say they’re most concerned with preserving our U.S. Constitution. Evidently the Tea Party movement is actually a bunch of different and smaller groups each claiming the title who may have little in common. One woman I read a quote from almost made me laugh when she said that Obama getting elected was the first time she’d ever lived in fear, and that she looked every day for him to declare martial law. It wasn’t funny, but it was ironic, because I felt that exact same way every day that George W. Bush was in office. I was truly relieved and not a little surprised when he didn’t do it before passing office to Obama. I fear nothing from Obama except perhaps naivete and inexperience, but that’s little to fear in comparison with what others see (and what I saw in Bush) as a studied effort to undermine our civil rights and turn the country into a mockery of itself. I suspected Bush of desiring to take over in a theocracy; others suspect Obama of being a fascist or a socialist (not the same thing, folks, just so you know). In any case, I’m all for anything that will take control away from special interest groups, be those corporate, financial, insurance companies, or whomever. But enough about politics…
Valentine’s Day went unobserved here, so far. Meridjet keeps reminding me that we can celebrate, like, now, if we want.
It’s the first time a V-day has passed without much of a pang from me, but for once I didn’t feel compelled to worry over it. I guess that’s a good thing, and we’ll get around to celebrating it when I can focus more on the here and now. Tomorrow… well, today…. I have a therapy appointment at noon. This sucks, because my days and nights are again backwards, this time thanks to leg pain and an abundance of pain killers making me sleep too late in the day. I made myself sleep long yesterday, because it seemed wise, and got up at 7 pm. The plan was to muscle through til I got home from the appointment. I am regretting that now, but there was no easy way to do it and more sleep sounded better at the time.
Not much else going on. I hope you are telling your SC-loving friends to sign up for the book series. Maybe once we’re out of Chapter One, you’ll feel more like recommending it!
See you on the flipside!

May your ebay sales turn you a nice profit!
Thanks!
Im glad to see youre recovering well.
The Tea Party thing bothers me, alot. The original idea seems to be sound, but the majority of people involved seem to have a very different idea of how their government should work, compounded by the fact that they only ever watch one news channel or listen to one preacher. If this mob ever got organized it would be exceptionally dangerous.
Oh, and the key note speaker at one of the recent conventions was Sarah Palin. Que Doom music.
I agree with that. I have worried about the more zealous religious right et al becoming organized and/or violent for years, though. I read about the Sarah Palin thing. A lot of them evidently support her. I have to wonder where their heads are. She’s about as politically savvy as I am, and that’s saying something. Plus she’s blatantly as -ist (e.g. racist, etc) as you can get. Or anti-ist, depending on what the issue is.
