project-dare-to-be-different-blog-and-entrecard-drop-group

New colors below! Now a general blog group — No EntreCard required!

After a lot of consideration, I’ve elected to start an EntreCard drop blog group for those with unusual blogs, or for blogs by people who aren’t afraid to put themselves out there for the world to see – regardless of their more unusual traits. If you or your blog fits this description, join the group so others (especially other “strange and unusual” folks) can find you easier!

Participating Sites List

Rules:

  • Your blog must be at least 30 days old and active.
  • Your blog must contain at least 50% original content – content you’ve written yourself.
  • You should feel that your blog is unusual in some way; either you’re putting yourself out there to make a statement about your individuality, or your blog provides a service or perspective that people don’t see every day.
  • You MUST display the image on your sidebar or front page, anywhere you like. Those of you on EntreCard should display it near your widget.
  • You must link to this page with the image. (Code for this is provided below.)
  • Please notify me if you remove the badge. I will do periodic checks and anyone without the badge visible on their front page will have their link disabled in the sites list. Re-add and re-comment to have your link enabled again.

Benefits:

  • Free badge of your choice, with hosting if you need it.
  • Increased exposure for your blog.
  • Finding others of like or similar mind much easier.
  • Bulk up your feed subscriber list.
  • I’ll add you to the member list on this page. (Updated as often as I have time.)

Instructions

Select the banner you want to use. Click within the code box for that banner, then press Control A to select all. Now press Control C to copy. Go to your blog code and press Control V where you want the image to display.

If you’d like to make a badge and leave it for others to use, I’ll add it to the above. If you’d like me to make a badge of a particular color or size, leave a comment with a description and I’ll get to it asap.

I don’t expect this to take off like wildfire, but I’d love to pleasantly surprised. Spread the word! :)

Hi, I’m about to add my banner now, I hope that you will add me. My site is ‘Insanity Personified’ at http://janedoesmusings.blogspot.com/

    Thanks so much!

  2. Melissan says:

I can’t get the code for the banner. When I click on code, the same banner shows without any code. I am moderately clueless when it comes to blog networking, but I am learning. How do I get the code for this button?

  3. Sheta Kaey sheta says:

@Melissan: Which button are you trying to get code for?

  4. Sheta Kaey sheta says:

@Jane Doe: I’ll get you up shortly! :)

  5. mystique says:

    Happy new year!!!

I’d like to ad the banner to my blog. How do i get the code?

    Thanks,

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

If you mean the “Dare to be Different” code, there’s a link under each banner. Choose one, click the word “Code” and copy it where you want the banner to show up.

The EntreCard banner can be found at http://entrecard.com.

  9. Ann Marie says:

I would love to join, but I’m having a couple of probelms. One is that a lot of the text on this page is blue against black and I can’t read it. The other is that when I click on the code under one of the badges, it just takes me to another page with the picture of the badge – no code.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

The text is only blue on black in very old versions of Internet Explorer, unless there’s an issue in Opera or something I don’t know about. The bg is a light shade of gray, and the post bg is a medium shade of gray. I’ll work on it.

Which badge link are you clicking?

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

You should be able to read now — I made the text white. As for the code links, I’ve just clicked every one of them and they work fine for me. If you are using Internet Explorer, I suggest you update by going to http://windowsupdate.com . You might want to set your computer to do automatic updates while you’re there.

If you like, I can email the code for the image of your choice.

      • Ann Marie says:

Thanks! I can read everything ok now but when I click on code, I still get a page with a picture of the badge and not the code. I’m all updated on IE…so not sure what the problem is. Would you mind sending me the blue 200px? Thanks!

        • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

Sent to your info@ address on your contact page. ;) I can’t access your email from the comment form. If it’s accessible to me, I haven’t found a way to view it.

I will be waiting eagerly for answer so that I could get this code posted on my blog under the Entrecard. I have read all the rules and understand it.

    Thanking you in advance,

Thanks very much in advance and I am so anxious waitng for it. Regards ahd Cheers!

  18. Lily Arbee says:

Hi! I’m Lily Arbee, not Lily TreasureBox……
I have a feeling you are commenting to me to ask what badge I would like to have, but the other Lily answered saying that she has already placed hers on her blog.

So as for Lily Arbee is concerned, I would like to get a code for “Dare to be Different” banner 200px, colour dark.

O.K., I hope this is clear to you now. Thanks in advance.

    Lily Arbee

  19. Lily Arbee says:

Hi! This is Lily Arbee again, I’ve just went through my e-mail and have received the requested code. So, you dont have to send again.

Thanking you so much for the “Dare to be Different” code, I’ve added it up below my Entrecard. You are welcome to drop by if you like to take a look. All you need to do is just click the below url:

    http://lilyarbee.blogspot.com/

    My warmest regards and Cheers!

  20. Lily Arbee says:

Hi! Sorry to disturb you again, I realize that my blog “Therapy Home” is not included in the above list of the Participating Sites. Well! just curious why not there, perhaps it is in process. Thank you. Cheers!

  21. Lily says:

Hello, just checking back in and see your note that I have been added, however I do not see me…

Is there another place to look other than the above list in black lettering?

    Thank you for your help.

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

Your blog is the one titled “Therapy Home.” If you’d prefer a different blog title, leave it here. I tend to go by the main headline I see when I visit the blog.

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

Adding the Tulips Talking blog now, but I need to tell you that your blog is too image heavy. Killed my internet connection (which tends to shut down when a sudden large draw on bandwidth occurs, cuz Comcast sucks).

  22. Jen says:

Just added it to my blog.

  23. Sandy says:

I’m adding your code, and hope you’ll approve my being a part of this group. Knitting and Crocheting isn’t that different, but I believe my approach to it is different in that I donate almost everything I make, and I blog in a different manner, related the yarn and the projects to everyday life. My blog I believe is more than here’s a hat I made with blah blah yarn.

Thanks for your consideration. I assume you’ll let me know if I’m not approved so that I’ll know to remove your badge.

  25. Sandy says:

Ok…now for the stupid question, how do I do my drops? I’ve got the widget on my blog (did that previously), you’ve approved…see above. I see I’m listed, but what do we click on to have multiple pages load at one time?

Or do we need to do each page individually?

    Confused.
    Thanks
    Sandy

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

I’m not sure what you’re asking. Not every blog on this list has an EntreCard. Even I have taken my card down. But these are all blogs that consider themselves different than the average blog. The ones that have cards, you’re welcome to add to your drop list. If not, don’t.

I don’t know why some of them are down. There may be server errors, like for #10, but I’m not having any problem for most of them.

  26. Lily Arbee says:

    Hi!
Now I see all the codes appears, if I like to change to a different color, would that be ok with you.

Thanks in advance, have a great weekend

    Cheers!

  27. Sandy says:

Further confusion. I’ve gone through trying to drop on the first 10 on the list, one at a time, and only 2 actually had EC cards in that group of 10, and 2 (Magic Moments and Art for Joy) are pages that aren’t there ???

  28. Ann Marie says:

    Hi Sheta,

I used to be listed as a participant, but I don’t see my name there or my blog’s name. Have I been unsubbed?

    Thanks,
    Ann Marie

  29. Sandy says:

I guess I’m still scratching my head, sorry; but have spent lots of time in ICU these past couple of weeks with Mom and am having a hard time getting back in the swing of things. So, let me ask my questions a little differently:
With all EC drop groups there’s a logo/button/widget like those above on blogs, that when clicked takes you to a page where you click on a group and 10 pages load at one time in order to do EC Drops. So my first question was where was the widget-button etc to do that. vs clicking on each title one at a time to do drops and or visit. I assumed this to be similar in nature to all the other groups that use the EC logo.

You indicate not all are EC carders; but why then use the EC logo? Should perhaps the codes above be altered to reflect it’s not associated with EC? Everyone I’ve seen using the code (which is how I found my way here) puts them with their EC cards either above, beside, or beneath and so naturally the thought is there are associated.

Your descriptive paragraph above indicates you decided to start a EC drop group, thus my confusion.

I’ll perhaps try again and let you know which pages were dead-gone etc.
    Going now for more caffeine.
    Sandy

Sandys last blog post..Planted Seeds Do Grow

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

You’re right — it was initially intended to be an EC drop group, but then people whose blogs can’t use EC code wanted to join. I will make some new banners without the EC logo.

I am not familiar with the script that allows one to open 10 pages at once. Can you link me to a page that has one of those buttons to click so I can look at what they’ve done?

      Thanks.

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

Your wish for new colors has been granted. See above. :)

  30. Lily Arbee says:

    Hi Sandy,
Thanks for everything, and thanks for adding “Therapy Home” in the above list. I just like you to note that there are two Lily here. As far as I am concerned I am Lily Arbee. The other person is just Lily. Because I noticed this when I read most of the comments, and realized that you wrote to the other person who is name just Lily (bear in mind I wrote mine in full, that is Lily Arbee, so if you so a comment from Lily that means another Lily, ok, just to help you make things easier for you, cause when I read through, I realized even your mother is helping you )
By the way my url is: http://lilyarbee.blogspot.com/
it should ends with / aftter com …. com/ ….

I really that all members including me are helpful to you and not causing you headace, you deserve better since are doing us a favour and giving us this wonderful codes.

Do take a good rest and take good care of yourself and my love to your mum.

Lily — your words in italics, my responses in normal type, below —

      Hi Sandy,

Actually, my name is Sheta. :)

Thanks for everything, and thanks for adding “Therapy Home” in the above list. I just like you to note that there are two Lily here. As far as I am concerned I am Lily Arbee. The other person is just Lily.

You’re welcome. And I’m very clear on which Lily is which. :)

I know which Lily you are. And my mom is not helping me — I’m 48 years old (in two weeks) and my mother knows nothing about doing websites. :)

By the way my url is: http://lilyarbee.blogspot.com/
it should ends with / aftter com …. com/ ….

It doesn’t matter whether one adds the / after .com; the url will still work. Your url is correct, right? Did you click on it?

I really that all members including me are helpful to you and not causing you headace, you deserve better since are doing us a favour and giving us this wonderful codes.

Thanks very much. That’s very kind.

By the way, my blog is entited “Therapy Home”. I like to thanks you very much for adding me in the list above, I’ve seen it appeared there. I have politely declined offers to join groups before but this is one group I am certainly interested to be part of. Do include the following blogs on your member list if it is OK.

    http://gotakeittothelimit.blogspot.com
    http://soundsanssense.blogspot.com
    http://mylifeatninetylookingbackandmovingon.blogspot.com

By the way, could you work on a code which when clicked would give you the list of the group’s members? I would love to have one of that.

    Thanks

    • Sheta Kaey sheta says:

I would be happy to include your blogs as soon as you add the banners to them.

I’m not sure what you mean by a code that will give you a list of the group members. There is a list at the end of the post above. Is there some other information you want?

      • Julehya says:

Forget about the request. Anyway, I would like a badge of plain black background and a simple gray text. I would appreciate it very much if you could make one for me.

I just had the badges installed on my sites.

        Thanks

      • Julehya says:

Forget the earlier request. But here’s another one. I would like to have a badge of plain black background and a simple gray text. I hope you could make one for me. In the meantime, I would just choose from one of the designs above.

Please consider the badges installed. Thanks
