Personal Inventory

Today’s been a busy day, full of a wide range of information both good and bad. My thoughts are largely inarticulate, but my energy level is sub-par so I’m sure that’s why. Best news of the day: Confirmed that my daughter’s Social Security disability has been approved. No word yet on how much she’ll be getting, but it will allow us to survive a little easier. I’m not sure when the regular payments will start, but they said that we should receive information by mail within the next ten to fifteen days.

I saw my counselor again, second visit. I was late again, and my reputation for punctuality is being ruined. *sob* I took Kara (daughter) in with me so she could get an idea of what therapy is like. The 45 minutes that remained of our allotted hour went by quickly. I’m now scheduled to see him on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., starting next week. We’re still in the initial interviewing phase. Today he asked me about pivotal moments of my life (of the negative variety) and then a bunch of true-false questions. He does schema therapy, which I’ll reserve judgment on for now. I know a little about it, and it has something of a bad reputation due to all those false memories that ended up as court cases back in the ’80s. I think I’m sharp enough to avoid being led by the nose. We’ll see. I want to be an active participant in my development, and this therapy is intended to be a part of the overall methodology. Meridjet, of course, is also instrumental.

A link making the rounds today leads to Mark Morford’s column in the San Francisco Gate. I get his column via email, but somehow missed this one. Perhaps, seeing the date in the link now, it was before I subscribed. In any case, the column refers to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an enormous, 1500-mile-wide, 30-meter-deep swath of plastic refuse floating in the Pacific Ocean between San Francisco and Hawaii. There’s a link within the column to another article containing information on how you can help reduce the level of disgusting, lethal, plastic garbage that will eventually make its way to the area. I’ll be trying extra hard to use my canvas shopping bags, for starters.

I’ve made a mini-post with a note reminding myself to write on topics I’ve neglected to finish or address as promised. You can find it in the sidebar. If you know of anything else I’ve forgotten, leave a comment and I’ll add it to my list. Meanwhile, stay tuned for an archival post or two.

edit: Well, InsaneJournal is down and doesn’t seem to want to come back up tonight. The archival posts will have to wait.

Sheta Kaey About Sheta Kaey

I teach people to perceive, communicate, and work with spirits. Beyond that, I'm kinda normal.

Sometimes I write things. Sometimes I edit things. Sometimes, people even see them.
